Fleischmann is a German toy manufacturing company founded in 1887 by Jean Fleischmann in Nuremberg. After having manufactured toys for several years, Fleischmann then specialized in the manufacture of model trains. It was in 1949 that the company innovated by manufacturing two-wire direct-fed miniature trains on an O-scale (1:45). Fleischmann then evolved to the HO scale (1:87) in 1952 and to the N scale (1:160) with the "Piccolo" range in 1969.
