Diorama Beautiful Touareg Revolt Gesture
The French conquest of Algeria spread from 1830 to 1847. The French colonial policy of the 19th century was based on a gradual expansion in North Africa and the sub-Saharan areas. At the end of the 19th century, the Tuaregs opposed a fierce resistance to the French troops to defend their territory of the central Sahara. Numerous violent fights opposed the troops of the French Foreign Legion to the Tuareg Berbers, mainly in remote areas of Algeria where the French had established advanced posts and forts. However, the local populations could not compete with the more modern weapons of the French army. The fighting ended with the signing of the treaties of 1905 and 1917. These events inspired many novels and films. The most famous film is "Beautiful Gesture" of 1939 based on the new eponymous PC Wren written in 1924.br /> This box allows to reproduce a battle scene between the French legionnaires Tuareg warriors.
